How to choose a CGM follower app for iPhone
Official CGM apps cover the basics. If you want readings in more places, or better alerts, a follower app can fill the gaps. Here's what to check.
1. Does it support your device?
Check your exact sensor or pump, and which account it signs in with. Some apps only support Dexcom or Libre. Sweet Dreams supports eight, plus CamAPS FX via Nightscout.
2. How often do readings refresh?
Widgets and watch complications are refreshed on a budget Apple sets, often every 15–20 minutes. Look for Live Activity support, which refreshes every few minutes. How Sweet Dreams does it.
3. Can alerts break through Silent and Focus?
Critical alerts sound even when your iPhone is muted or in Sleep mode. Check whether they're available, and whether they're free. Sweet Dreams alerts are free.
4. Does it alert you when readings stop?
A missed-reading alert tells you when data hasn't arrived, so silence never looks like good news.
5. Where else can you see readings?
Apple Watch, CarPlay, Mac, iPad and StandBy each matter to different people. See all Sweet Dreams features.
6. Does it work for families?
If several people follow one person, look for a way to coordinate who's responding. Sweet Dreams Message Group.
